SLR (Self-Loading Rifle) This is a weapon in which the next bullet or BB is loaded into the chamber from the magazine as part of the action of the weapon upon firing a shot. Self-Loading Rifles include both the semi-automatic and automatic firing modes. In a semi-automatic weapon each pull of the trigger will fire one shot. An automatic firearm will continue to fire rounds until the magazine is empty or the trigger is released.
SMG (Sub-Machine Gun) A sub-machine gun is a firearm that combines the automatic fire of a machine gun with the cartridge of a pistol, and has a lower overall power behind each shot than the larger machine guns. They are designed for use in close quarter battles where more powerful guns are not needed. A wide variety of Airsoft SMGs are available.
Smokes Military slang for a smoke grenade.
SOCOM (Special Operation Command) The Special Operations Command represents the elite forces of each branch of the U.S. Military. The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM or USSOC) is charged with overseeing SOCOM. This command is part of the U.S. Department of Defense, and is headquartered at Mac Dill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.
Softair The original version of Airsoft using 7mm plastic pellets.
SPAS (Special Purpose Automatic Shotgun) Most notably the SPAS-12 is a combat shotgun made by the Italian Company Franchi S. p.A. Used by military and law enforcement agencies around the world, this gun is popular for its pump-action firing mode where the foregrip must be manually pumped back and forth after each shot. This pump action ejects the used shell and loads a new round from the internal magazine.
