Spetsnaz This is general term in Russian for “special forces”. The literal English translation of this word is special purpose units. The Spetsnatz refers to the elite special forces in Russia including the military and police. The Japanese Airsoft gun manufacturer Tokyo Marui has made and Airsoft AEG called the “AK47 Spetsnatz”.
Spring Normally concealed inside the guns, the spring cocking system provides power behind many Airsoft guns commonly known as “springers”.
Standard A regular Airsoft gun that has not been upgraded.
Stock Stock is the term given to the section of a gun that is located between the breech block and butt of the gun.
SUSAT An acronym for Sight Unit Small Arms, Trilux. This is an optical sight used for night sighting intended to be mounted on a variety of rifles and designed for use by all infantrymen. A SUSAT is 4x optical sight with tritium-powered illumination.
SVI SVI stands for Strayer Voight Incorporated. A firearm manufacturer in Texas whose specialty is the SVI line of pistols. These pistols have been replicated into GBB Airsoft pistols. The SVI GBB Airsoft pistols are more expensive than most GBB pistols, but are of high quality and usually worth the investment.
SV An acronym for Special, Super, or Sniper Version.
TM (Tokyo Marui) A Japanese Airsoft gun manufacturer, which is widely regarded as the gold standard in the Airsoft gun industry. The TM model Airsoft guns are of good quality and are primarily made out of plastic material causing them to be lighter than other companies model guns, which rely more on steel.
